p.200-216

In chapter 19 Bruno was waiting eagerly for the time to come to meet Shmuel again. It was time and they went to go meet each other. And Shmuel was waiting and Bruno said did you bring the clothes and he said yes. So he told Shmuel turn around and he put on the clothes. He snuck underneath the fence they broke. They start walking and he imagined it to be a good happy, private life. He sees people that looked like there dead but walking. He later realized saying he wanted to go home. Shmuel said you said you were going to help me find my father. After an hour they found nothing. 10 soilders blew there whistles and everyone gathered around and they were squeezed. He thought he heard gun shots but he couldn’t hear it correctly. They went inside this structure that was air tigh and no rain coming through cracks. In chapter 20 no one heard from Bruno again. It is like he disappeared and no one could fine him. A soilder found his clothes and called his father. His mom went to Berlin and Gretel to and everyone was crying thinking about Bruno. His dad was going to lose his position as commander becuase he was going soft. His dad did exploring where the clothes was found. He found that the fence was opened and enough for a small person to crawl under. Bruno was never found. In chapter 19 that was not a smart idea for Bruno to do that because Shmuel should have warned him not to do that. In chapter 20 that is sad that Bruno was gassed. He would have been a little smarter than that by looking at Shmuel and the way he is treated/looks.

p.186-199

In chapter 17 Bruno’s mom said she didn’t want to live at out-with anymore (the current home they are in). She wanted to go back in Berlin get there old house back and there normal lives. So father and mom were arguing and arguing about going home to Berlin and Bruno was hearing everything they were arguing about. He didn’t want to leave Shmuel behind.  In chapter 18 Bruno and Gretel were called to fathers office and he told him too sit down which he usually tells them not sit down. They start talking about Berlin and saying if they life this place or not. So he asked them and Gretel said no in a nice way. It took Bruno a long time to answer and said yes. His father so you want to stay with me. It was confusing and Bruno ended up going to Berlin and they were leaving in Saturday. He wanted to say good bye to Shmuel before he left so he was going to go the next day. Bruno goes the next at the same time go to see Shmuel. He went there he wasn’t there. It was like they for a few days. Then he came back and he was walking towards the fence. They say down with each other and Shmuel was all beat up. Bruno broke the news to Shmuel. They were both thinking of crying and holding each other’s hand. It was just a long pause of silence and Bruno came up with the idea why don’t I dress up like you I already have kept head shaved. Shmuel said they have pajamas in the shed and he will bring some tomorrow. So they both went home they there goodbyes until tomorrow.I think in chapter 17 it was a good idea to go back to Berlin because that is no place for children. They already got lice what’s next. In chapter 18 Bruno should say good bye to Shmuel he has been talking to him for over a year now. I don’t think that is a good idea for them to do.

p.161-185

In chapter 15 Shmuel was called by Kotler and his job was to polish the glasses for wine. Bruno got hungry while talking to him and got chicken and cut it into three slices and ate them all. He apologized to Shmuel he he didn’t get some. He cut three slices for Shmuel but Shmuel didn’t want to eat it at first. He ended up eating and swallowing everything in 20 seconds. Kotler came in the house and asked Shmuel have you been eating. He answered yes and he asked if he stole it. He said no and Kotler asked who gave it you and he pointed to Bruno. Kotler screamed at Bruno do you know this boy three times. Bruno answered no and he told Shmuel to get back to work. In chapter 16 Bruno asked Gretel what was the fence for and she said those are for the Jews because Bruno had no idea. He said then are we Jews and Gretel said don’t every say that again don’t make Jews and us equal. Then he asked what are we and she stuttered and said the opposite of Jews. Gretel found a small egg and Bruno had it too. Their mom came and said it was lice and had to shower with a shampoo that smelled. His mom said because of this house and Bruno knew it was from Shmuel and Bruno got his hair cut bald.  I think in chapter 15 Shmuel would have died if he Bruno said yes. In chapter 16 it was best to cut his hair.

p.150-160

In chapter 14 he almost told his sister Gretel about Shmuel. His sister fot mad like he was about to kill him or would have told her dad about it and Shmuel would have died. He didn’t want to tell everyone just yet so he came up with something like a imaginary friend. He told a lie he wasn’t said ready to tell anyone about Shmuel. He also didn’t want to get in trouble with his dad because he is not supposed to be that far or talk to anyone their. He told him that they weren’t people and not to worry about the people over the fence. I think it was good idea to tell the lie becuase imagine what his dad would have done to Shmuel. Shmuel would have died and Bruno would be lonely again.

p.136-149

In chapter 12 Shmuel thinks of a answer kind of. He says that before all of this happened his dad owned a watch shop and gave a special watch for him on his birthday. The soilders took it form him. He explains how everyone from his family was taking and how many of them started to hide. They were trying to survive. He had a wristband and it showed the Jewish symbol. Bruno said that his dad had one and it was black, red, and white. In chapter 13 they invited lieutenant Kotler was invited too diner and ate with them as Pavel was their waiter. Kotler asked for wine and he was wearing these white pants and Pavel lost his grip and spilt on them and Kotler got mad beat him up and killed Pavel. In chapter 12 I don’t think Bruno gets what happening becuase he still thinks we can play and I will ask father. In chapter 13 I think Kotler took it too far. Just because he accidently spilt the bottle of wine so he killed. He took it too the extreme.

p.104-125

Bruno finds out the dot he was seeing became a boy (Shmuel) and he sat there with him. Bruno ask a bunch of questions and figured out they have the same birthday and have never heard of each other’s name. Then Bruno asks why are you on that side of the fence and I am in this side of the fence. Bruno said you guys probably play for hours on that side. Shmuel says let me think about and I will tell you. Bruno meets the fury (Hitler). He comes in dressed with a nice uniform and with a beautiful women. He greeted his dad and then mom and then Bruno and Gretel. The women ask more questions to Bruno and then they go eat and Bruno was mad how impolite he was because he walked in there and sat on fathers chair. His mom told him to go upstairs and don’t make any noise or slide on banisters. He heard some parts and saw them leave and how he treated the girl with out opening the door for her. Bruno went too sleep.

p.86-103

Bruno said he missed his grandparent the most. He was always able to walk across the street and stay with them. He was saying how old his grandpa was and how young his grandma was compared to his grandpa. His grandma was always the type of person two sing songs or do skits for the family. He talked to Bruno’s father and saying what he is doing and how disappointed she was in him. She stormed out. Bruno remembers that he likes to explore and realized that the house was not enough. So he was surprised that he never thought about the fence. He went all the way to the end of the fence and he started to see something.

p.55-85

In chapter 6 Bruno went up to his room and he saw his maid (Maria) touching his stuff. He stopped and asked her stop and he remembered that Maria also had a life before coming here. So he asked if she can talk about her-self and she did. She said that my grandmother worked for his father and she was ill and went to the doctors and his father paid for everything including the funeral. So to say thanks she started to work for his father. His sister asked to make a bath and he stood up for Maria and saying she is also a person. In chapter 7 he asked Lieutenant Kotler if he has a tire anywhere. He said you can get it from the person and he said do you an easier way to get or spare one. He got and mad a swing out of it from the old tree. He did and he swung until he fell off hit his head and almost fainted and the tire came and hit his hard and Pavel (butler) went to pick up Bruno. He cleaned Bruno up and his mom came in and said if his father asked we will say that I cleaned his up.

p.30-54

Bruno keeps complaining and talking to his sister about living here. Then he sees five solders talking and laughing in his dads office. After they leave Bruno goes in and talks to his dad. He talks about the house and he noticed how he doesn’t get mad. Then he ask who are those people in the back he said those aren’t people and not to worry about it. Then asked what the salute meant and he said “well good bye for now, have a pleasant afternoon.”

p.1-29

Bruno (the main character) was complaining that he didn’t want to leave Berlin and they did. They got to a place they didn’t know where it was and Bruno kept complaining and kept saying okay were here let’s go now. He saw someone come out of dads office and it was a solider but had more patches. He went to his sister Gretel and said he doesn’t like the kids here. So he said to look outside his window. She went to see and said those aren’t kids and what are they doing
